Consider the Characteristics of Psychopathy

Psychopaths cannot tolerate being exposed and thwarted. And since lying is so easy for them, having no conscience or empathy, psychopaths like Rayelan (DRS) make frequent use of slanders and libel to destroy the credibility of their victims.

As there is a range for disordered behavior so is there a range for what a specific, individual psychopath will do. Remember, serial killers are all psychopaths. Killing someone who annoys a psychopath will be seriously considered. The only consideration which prevents this is the possibility of consequences. But less intelligent psychopaths have been known to overlook the consequences.

Rayelan is a psychopath. A perusal of her behavior reveals many obvious indicators of the condition.

Glib and Superficial

Psychopaths are often voluble and verbally facile. They can be amusing and entertaining conversationalists, ready with a clever comeback, and are able to tell unlikely but convincing stories that cast themselves in a good light.

Unlikely stories.  One instance of this is Rayelan's continual telling she is actually the Arch Duchess of Austria and the Princess of Obergon, a planet in the Sirius System and has lived a million lives on Earth trying to find her True Love. In this case the True Love was Gunther Russbacher, who dumped her after seven years, most of which he spent in jail for his multitudinous cons. When you listen to Rayelan telling this one you can doubt, or allow yourself to be swept away with the intensity of her seeming belief in a story so bizarre and entirely lacking in logic.

Psychopaths spin everything to their own advantage. Less intelligent ones will tell so many lies they end up shooting themselves in the foot, overlooking the long term consequences of hard evidence. Hint:  Rayelan is not very long sighted.  

Egocentric and Grandiose

Psychopaths have a narcissistic and grossly inflated view of their own self-worth and importance, a truly astounding egocentricity and sense of entitlement, and see themselves as the centre of the universe, justified in living according to their own rules.

Story One
ATALON AND SHALMA 

 

Note, Atalon was Gunther and Shalma was supposedly me. Since I had never heard of the book before arriving in Ohio it was astonishing, and embarrassing, to hear Rayelan say I had been her sister in this long ago life. I read hard science fiction, which is a genre allowing the author to explore alternative cultural memes.  Science fantasy, Space Opera, which describes  the Obergon Chronicles,  is for cretins.

Rayelan is the Queen of Drama. She told me once she was known as the Queen of Conspiracy but apparently she stole THAT title from someone she knew. This is also typical of psychopaths.

Lack of Remorse or Guilt

Psychopaths show a stunning lack of concern for the effects their actions have on others, no matter how devastating these might be. They may appear completely forthright about the matter, calmly stating that they have no sense of guilt, are not sorry for the ensuing pain, and that there is no reason now to be concerned.

Nothing is Rayelan's fault. She never even intimates guilt unless she is in the seduction phase with a victim.  Just read her begging-panhandling letters on Rumor Mill News and you will see what I mean.

Lack of Empathy

Many of the characteristics displayed by psychopaths are closely associated with a profound lack of empathy and inability to construct a mental and emotional "facsimile" of another person. They seem completely unable to "get into the skin" of others, except in a purely intellectual sense.

Rayelan's emotions are so shallow an ant could not get a decent drink of water if Rayelan's emotions were gathered together as a body of water.  In her case this would be a puddle.

Shallow Emotions

Psychopaths seem to suffer a kind of emotional poverty that limits the range and depth of their feelings. At times they appear to be cold and unemotional while nevertheless being prone to dramatic, shallow, and short-lived displays of feeling. Careful observers are left with the impression they are playacting and little is going on below the surface.

This is Rayelan to a T. The range of her emotions focuses only on herself and what she wants right now. It is all an act. After you know her for a while this is obvious. This is why she has to pay people to play the role of being her 'friends.' These individuals also function as her audience, which she needs if she is going to go into the histrionics which seem necessary to her as she builds up into a real screaming session, with frothing mouth and hands flapping as she jiggles and waddles up and down the house screaming and exhibiting her foul mouth at the top of her lungs.

Poor Behavior Controls

Besides being impulsive, psychopaths are highly reactive to perceived insults or slights. Most of us have powerful inhibitory controls over our behaviour; even if we would like to respond aggressively we are usually able to "keep the lid on." In psychopaths, these inhibitory controls are weak, and the slightest provocation is sufficient to overcome them. But, their actions have a “cold” and focused quality about them, and return to “normal” is quick.

Again, this is exactly what you see in Rayelan. She goes hot and cold in a single breath and when you stand back you see it is all for effect.

A Need for Excitement

Psychopaths have an ongoing and excessive need for excitement—they long to live in the fast lane or "on the edge," where the action is. In many cases the action involves the breaking of rules.

Psychopaths love chaos because it is more stimulating. This is why they like wars and human conflict the rest of us will do so much to avoid. Rayelan loves conflict, she courts it.Again, read her whining letters on RMN.  

Lack of Responsibility

Obligations and commitments mean nothing to psychopaths. Their good intentions—"I'll never cheat on you again"—are promises written on the wind. Their performance on the job is erratic, with frequent absences, misuse of company resources, violations of company policy, and general untrustworthiness. They do not honour formal or implied commitments to people, organizations, or principles.

Rayelan is exactly like this. She ignores obligations when she has gotten what she wants. She 'gets sick' if she would rather go shopping. She is constantly looking for new stimulation.

Early Behaviour Problems

Most psychopaths begin to exhibit serious behavioural problems at an early age. These might include persistent lying, cheating, theft, arson, truancy, substance abuse, vandalism, and/or precocious sexuality. Because many children exhibit some of these behaviours at one time or another, it is important to emphasize that the psychopath's history of such behaviours is more extensive and serious than most.

I suspect this was true from the stories she had told, which always feature her as the victim. She told me her father sold her into slavery with the CIA for mind control experiments, her brother was abusive, tried to kill her from jealously when she was a baby and small girl. Then, she tells the story that her father, a long range trucker, took her to Austria to have her betrothed to Gunther when she was around eleven years old. In this version of her life Gunther ran off with an older woman, one around eighteen, after telling her,  Rayelan, she was ugly. From there, the narrative goes to him seeing her while she is married to her second husband, John Dyer, a teacher, and becoming instantly attracted to her.

You see, she says, she is really of noble blood. Not that she knows anything about her lineage, you understand. But she knows.

Adult Antisocial Behaviour

Psychopaths see the rules and expectations of society as inconvenient and unreasonable impediments to their own behavioural expression. They make their own rules. Antisocial behaviour may consist of phoney stock promotions, questionable business practices, partner or child abuse, and so forth. Others do things that are not necessarily illegal but are nevertheless unethical, immoral, or harmful to others: cheating on a partner, emotional abuse, bullying, to name but a few.
